SPIN-2025 Conference Announcement

Dear colleagues,

This conference is intended as a new online event on the subject ofΒ  spin exchange.

As you well know since release of “Fundamentals of Spin Exchange” in 2019, this field of science is experiencing a unique moment of transition from the traditional paradigm to a new one.

Over the previous 50-70 years, we accumulated a sufficient number of experimental observations and theoretical solutions that forced us to reconsider established ideas.

The new paradigm of spin exchange not only generalized the knowledge available at that time, but also put forward a number of predictions.

Over the past 5 years, a number of predictions have been confirmed in experiments. This work requires continuation.

I propose to hold a discussion in our community of researchers involved in spin exchange, so that we can have an additional discussion about the need to move to a new paradigm and start using it for future research.

In order to achieve the desired result as effectively as possible, I propose to hold this three-stages event with professional discussions and recording of all questions and comments in the interactive online knowledge base that I am creating with the intent to make these available.

Scientific Director of the KPTI FRC KazSC RAS

Stage 1:
Educational

  • Overview lectures covering key aspects of the new spin exchange paradigm, which will simply remind some of what is already known, and introduce some of the participants to the main provisions.

  • Presentation of a list of predictions and current scientific problems requiring further study.

  • Exploration of the main theoretical and experimental results that made the paradigm shift necessary.

Stage 2:
New experimental evidence

  • Reports on new theoretical and experimental results with specific subjects in theory, in experiment.

  • Reports on new areas of application of spin exchange.

  • Analysis of the influence of new achievements in spin exchange on other sections of spectroscopy.

Stage 3:Practical
Study of Calculation Methods

  • A practical guide to calculating EPR spectra taking into account spin exchange, which is necessary for everyone who deals with spin exchange.

  • We will provide materials corresponding to specialized programs and manuals.

  • Analysis of real problems and answers to questions from participants, with their recording in the interactive knowledge base.

Publication of the results:

After discussions with some colleagues, it became clear that a combination of reports and discussions with the educational aspect of this event would be interesting to all of us. To ensure the availability of materials for us and all interested specialists, we will present them in different formats:

  • Video recordings of all discussions will be available in a closed section of the interactive knowledge base on this site, created on the initiative of the Center for the Development of Scientific Methodology at the FRC KazSC RAS.
  • Articles written on the basis of presentations, questions and comments will be promptly published in a special issue of the journal Applied Magnetic Resonance
Special Request

I have a big request to you and all members of our community:

  1. Participate in this discussion, even if you do not plan to give a talk. Your questions and comments are of great interest, they can be extremely interesting. History will appreciate it.
  2. Present – we will be glad to hear your research on theory, experiments and new applications. If you have unexplained, unexpected results, which are especially interesting to learn about.
  3. Send questions or thoughts in advance – We will find a moment to voice your thoughts during the discussion and include them in the publications.

I am sure that such an unconventional format will prove to be practical, beneficial and truly useful for our community.

Please get in touch and let me know what you think about this and in what format you are ready to participate.

I look forward to a fruitful discussion of spin exchange with your participation.
