Spin Exchange: Transition to a New Paradigm

Welcome!

After the key publications of K.M. Salikhov in 2019, the traditional view of spin exchange, formed over the past 50-70 years, was radically changed. As a result, this field of science has entered a pivotal transition to a new paradigm.

This website is designed support this transition process and to become to create a centre of knowledge for spin exchange.

Because the paradigm shift means everyone who uses spin exchange need to understand it.

SPIN2025 online conference was a success

How One Conference Changed the Trajectory of Scientific Conversation

An unusual international conference was held online from June 17 to 20, 2025. More than 100 scientists from 6 countries gathered not just to discuss new data, but to rethink the very basis of how we understand spin exchange in dilute solutions.

SPIN-2025 was not just a scientific meeting. It was an event centered on a paradigm shift. A new theory, supported by precise calculations and experiments, challenged 70-year-old ideas about the properties of spin exchange and its manifestations in electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy.

The conference was organized by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences K.M. Salikhov, Scientific Director of the Kazan Physical-Technical Institute of the Kazakh Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as part of the activities of the Scientific Methodology Development Center at the Kazakh Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, recently created under his leadership.

But it wasn’t just the scientific idea that made the conference special. The format used was innovative for the scientific community. Participants were given access to scientific materials in advance.

The discussions were not “around slides”, but in fact – in-person Zoom sessions, with live questions and discussions.
At the intersection of theory, experiment and new ideas, a sense of a scientific shift was born – not just in knowledge, but in thinking.

“We didn’t just discuss the model. We saw that the scientific community is ready to think differently,” the organizers noted.

“The organization was excellent. The online format of the conference turned out to be very convenient.” – the overwhelming majority of participants (91.7%) noted.

Now spin-exchange.com will become an open platform: with links to articles, materials on spin exchange and the ability to follow the development of the paradigm.

Feedback from participants

“I found the format of the meeting interesting. It allowed me to follow the main long talks at my own pace.”

“The organization was excellent, and the online format of the conference allowed me to participate in it directly from the office.”

“If you are interested in this topic or your interests lie in a related area, then SPIN2025 is a good opportunity to discuss it and share your results.”

“The detailed discussion of one issue allowed us to discuss all sides of the problem. The preliminary (pre-conference) familiarization with the main aspects of the problem and the opportunity to listen to the talks again in recordings allowed all participants to better understand the new paradigm.”

“The online seminar on spin exchange, an attempt to bring back to science the essential spirit of discussing concepts, not just specific results.”

Spin Exchange

While spin exchange underlies many phenomena in quantum science, materials research, and spectroscopy, it is underutilized outside of a small circle of specialists.

This site is designed to help the scientific community leverage the knowledge about spin exchange accumulated over the years. This is especially true today, in an exciting time of paradigm shift in spin exchange.

Whether you are a scientist, a student, or someone looking for new technological solutions, this site will help you explore, understand, implement, and contribute to the future of spin exchange theory and its applications.

We plan to keep this site up-to-date as spin exchange research evolves.

You will find a lot of interesting here, including:

Experimental and theoretical observations that challenge traditional ideas in the field of spin exchange.

Description of a new spin exchange paradigm that fills gaps in established knowledge and offers testable scientific predictions.

Examples of experimental confirmation of predictions highlighting the need for continued research and expanded interdisciplinary dialogue.
